Re: Unresolved dependencies

Same problem. No idea what's causing it.

I've noticed that most of these problems occur with add ons from packman or
other non-openSUSE maintained installation sites. All the locked ones are
non-openSUSE - YAST locks all files that are not on the OSS or NON-OSS repo
sites.

But given the lack of repair in the 10.3 iso and their not providing any
kind of real fix for the iso until 11.0 comes out, I would not depend on
the official repo sites to be effectively updated either.

Sort of like you get what you pay for, but even those who have bought the
official distribution have these problems also.

I'm still running openSUSE 10.2. So are you saying there's no good
solution for this? Is this an openSUSE specific issue, or do all Linux
distributions encounter similar "unresolved dependency" problems when
updating?

I'm not planning to upgrade to 10.3 at this point, but if doing that
requires a clean install for best results (which is what I've been
reading) then in my mind that opens the door to changing distros as
well. Having just switched from Windows XP to openSUSE last May, the
package management for me has been the biggest headache of the
transition. If there's another distro that better handles this (Ubuntu
maybe?) then I may just switch when the time comes.
