Re: GCC Compiler in SuSE 10.3

First, SuSE no longer exists. The last SuSE release was SuSE 9.3. The
next version was SUSE 10.0, followed by SUSE 10.1. After that, part way
through the development cycle of 10.2, the name was changed to openSUSE.

Second, the GCC compiler is present in 10.3.

I searched by "which gcc" command, but it couldn't find any.

Then you haven't installed it. Which media did you use to install 10.3?
Did you use one of the single CD installation media, either the KDE or
Gnome CDs, the final release version DVD image, or the DVD from the
boxed set?

Please confirm whether 10.3 doesn't include the gcc compiler ?

I can't confirm it's not there, although I can confirm that it is:

Is there any plan to include this compiler in recent future upgrade ?

Of course there are plans to include this compiler, although it doesn't
need to be included in an update. Well, not unless there are any
security problems, and then it'll get the same treatment as any of the
other packages supplied by SUSE/Novell.

As for 11.0, since Factory already has GCC 4.3 in it, and there's around
7 months before the next release, at the very least it's going to have
4.3, or maybe even later, depending on when the upgrades occur to GCC
and how far into the development cycle of 11.0 they take place.
