Re: yet another yast problem: hangs on sw management

greets!

I was doing an update and ended up killing it since it seemed to be taking
forever.

now when I run yast and try to do software management, it takes a long
time before the online repositories are checked and then I get the
console screen (I invoke yast via commandline) where the various programs
are listed but it is unresponsive. I have let it sit overnight.

was just smart and ran 'rpm --rebuilddb' but that just gets lightning
fast past the repositories and then still hangs on the sw selection
console.

so far I haven't found anything useful googling so I thought I'd throw my
problem onto the heap.

using most recent OpenSuse (3.3?). the software that was being downloaded
which I killed was the cifs upgrade.

advice? I have smart; maybe use it to reinstall yast?

Well, the first advice is to get a little bit of interest in your
system. This means at least knowing what version you installed.

Well, it hangs on the repositories, so try to disable them and see what
happens. Also try it via GUI and see what happens. I have seen rare
ocasions where one worked and the other did not.

They say pesticides have been linked to low sperm counts.
In my opinion if you have bugs down there that are so bad
you need to use a pesticide, you're not gonna get laid anyway.
