When I run configure on the downloaded source tree I get the following
message:

Header <bitset> not found. This is probably caused by having an outdated
C++ compiler / standard library. Please upgrade to a
compiler that is
ISO/IEC 14882 conformant (for example gcc 3.2)

I am on 10.3 and my version of gcc shows the following:

NEW64:/home/jim/downloads/asc/asc-2.0.1.0 # gcc -dumpversion
4.2.1

It looks like a header or lib problem to me but there is no clue from
the error message. Anybody seen this?

TIA Jim
Add this to your repo's:

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/games:/strategy:/turn-based/openSUSE_10.3

Then use Yast to install.

Can't add that one, also tried the following to point specifically at
the .repo file. I get an error message when I try & add either what you
specified or one that I thought should work:

http://download.opensuse.org
/repositories/games:/strategy:/turn-based/openSUSE_10.3/games:strategy:turn-based.repo

The erro I'm getting says it's an invalid IP address, that it has to
have the last component not ended with a digit - maybe openSUSE_10.3
counts that way, but it is in the path to what looks like the correct
file when I look at it with a browser. Puzzling. I think I will just
copy the rpm for now, I found it in the tree under /src and I'll try that.

No...

You're doing it wrong.

[just put this stuff and nothing else ! in the box]
1. type -> http
1.5 name -> strategy:turn based
2. server-> download.opensuse.org
3. directory-> repositories/games:/strategy:/turn-based/openSUSE_10.3

No slashes before or after the above in the boxes !!! Under (1.5) this is
the name that is shown in the list of installation sources and has no
effect other than where in the list it is listed....
