I'm attaching a USB sound recording device and Audacity records from
this device with no problems. I have OSS: /dev/dsp (Portaudio v19) set
as my playback device.
If I record some music and then play it back this all works fine.
If I set Audacity to use "Software Playthrough: Play new track while
recording it" it just doesn't work. I have to uncheck this to get the
recording feature to work.
Probably the USB sound device is not capable to record and playback at the same time (IIRC called full-duplex). It's probably half-duplex.
Ciao, Michael.
