been printing quite happily but can't find any means of running a head

If you're using KDE then do this:
1. Personal Settings
2. Peripherals
3. Printers
4. In the menu at the top left click the down arrow next to 'Printer'
5. Printer Tools
6. Epson Inkjet
7. Clean Print Head
There you have it.
P.S. You'll probably need to hit the 'Administrator Mode' button though
I'm
not certain. I just put a new cartridge in another computer so I'll be
doing this soon but I'm sure that will work...
You shouldn't need any special drivers for your model. Just use cups
drivers which are standard.. Set it up with Yast. Epson Stylus R300 is
listed so there should be no problem in 10.3. After setup use the previous
post to do a head clean. Don't bother with any special proprietary
downloads. Totally unnecessary.
