No difference noticed with anything before.

Never had a problem. I just used YaST not the online updater, which was
solved after an update
SUSE 10.2 whoops part 2
Never had an issue
SUSE 10.3 found something slower than SUSE 7 updates
Nothing that I notice.
So obviously YMMV.
