Can't get kernel updates to install

Hi

All the last few kernel updates have failed for me with this kind of
error.

"Installation of [S1:1][package]kernel-default-2.6.22.12-0.1.i586 failed:

This is on 10.3

I haven't got into things like sysfs before, can someone tell me what I
have to do to get this working? I have a 17G SCSI as / and home and use a
300G IDE for data.
