Is there a Citrix server or similar service for openSuse 10.3 that works
with Citrix ICA clients? Or in lieu of that, how about a server side
component for remote desktop? I've got the rdesktop client side loaded
and
working just fine for connecting to other Windows boxes from the Linux
host,
but I'd like to connect from Windows Remote Desktop clients to the Linux
server. Citrix or Remote Desktop are my two options built into the
firmware.

I'd look at FreeNX/NX. It may not have as many features as Citrix, but
it does make for a very fast remote desktop experience (lots faster than
VNC
and even Microsoft's rdp protocol... esp in low bandwidth conditions).

NX protocol works across SSH... so you have the ability to encrypt the
session... which makes it nice for accessing a remote desktop over
public lines.

I'm also a big fan of FreeNX :)

Here's my notes of installing it in openSUSE:

I've looked at FreeNX since it seems to come with openSuse. As far as I can
tell however in only uses SSH and not RDP or ICA.

No not really - it uses an SSH tunnel to transfer the data. But both
ends have to be NX.

My remote clients are
limited to RDP or ICA only since their operating system is in ROM.

ISR that SCOs Tarantella could do RDP. But there's no open source
version of these proprietary protocol servers (and why should there be
when X, VNC and NX do the job so well).

IME most of these devices don't use ROM for their OS image - it's
Flash - and most vendors offer X server software (in X nomenclature,
the server is the computer you sit in front of - not the one in the
cupboard). Even if they don't, most will support a network boot via
tftp. Most run intel pentium compatable CPUs so a standard binary
distro will work (like Puppy Linux which comes with USB flash images).

Try switching to X and use the Linux rdp client for any legacy
systems.
