Either the root user doesn't have a password configured, or you've
entered the wrong one. Try using a console and use mysql:

mysql -h localhost -u root

This will try to log you in without a password. If it fails, try:

mysql -h localhost -u root -p

You'll be asked to enter the password for root[0].
