My default linux is mepis 7.01 which runs wireless right out of the box.
Wireless also runs out of the box in PClinux OS.
I cannot get wireless to run in SuSE 10.3
This is the list of files in madwifi-0.9.4 after I untar it:
linux-uwal:/Atheros/madwifi-0.9.4 # ls -l
total 232

This is the result of lsmod so atheros is recognized
03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5212 802.11abg NIC (rev 01)
I'm trying to compile madwifi and this is the results:
linux-uwal:/Atheros/madwifi-0.9.4 # make
/bin/sh: cc: command not found
Makefile.inc:81: *** Cannot detect kernel version - please check compiler and KERNELPATH. Stop.
linux-uwal:/Atheros/madwifi-0.9.4 # ./configure
-bash: ./configure: No such file or directory
I tried searching google for info on atheros and madwifi, no luck
Any help will be appreciated.
I really like SuSE, using since 5.3.

Do you have kernel source files installed?

I got this from another post:
The 'cc' command is the C compiler. You need to install the development
environment. Easiest way is to go to YaST -> Software Management and
when it finally comes up, select 'Patterns' in the drop down 'Filter'
list. Scroll down to the 'Development' category and check the 'Base
Development' check box. This should get you all the tools the
compilation process will need.
I followed the instructions as above and got on the internet using wireless.
Thanks to all who helped.
