No more streaming video in Firefox

Since downloading the Firefox 3.0, videos from news links like CNN and BBC
will no longer play. I have the 64 bit version of Firefox. When I attempt
to play the video links, I receive error messages saying that I do not have
the required plug in. On one place, I told it to download the plug in rpm
and then I tried a "rpm -Uvh (file)" and it told me that I already had it
installed. Yet Firefox doesn't recognize it. Using Opera 9.50, all online
videos play without a hitch. Somewhere back in my memory banks, I seem to
recall a similar problem with a past edition of Firefox, but what was the
final solution, and would it work here?
Thanks,
Godzilla
