moving from 10 to 11, not so nice

Hi there.

I've been successfully running the older version of Suse for some time now. Time came for me to want to update the version to 11. The DVD has been downloaded, updating button has been hit. and now. after the updates from the dvd not only it didn't upgrade to 11 but borked my 10 completely (for example - Java lost its updates, KaMix lost its settings, boot loader went completely mad).

The only thing i noticed during the first and further, more manual updates it could not find some files on the internet.

I'm beginning to think i got some stupid borked version that i downloaded that gave the wrong links or I don't know. I'm more of a windows whizkid and I'm not good enough to go text mode and alter stuff. I'm Linux user.

Did anyone have similar problem?

Or maybe I should save my data (which folders though?), wipe off the hard drive and give it a clean Suse11 and then move my folders back again? would it keep all my settings and data?

Please help if you can. I so don't want to move back to Windows... nooooooooooooooooooo :)
