apt-get in Suse?

Folks,

I am use to Debian and Ubuntu. I've just downloaded and installed Suse.
Is there something similar to "apt-get" in Suse? I also read something
about "Yast". Is that the program you use to install applications in
Suse?

If so, do you have to download the applications first before installing
them? Or does it go out and get the application to install?

Sorry about asking these sort of newbie questions. Thank you for your
help.
