I just launch firefox that was installed by YaST and that is it. It
launces the installer, asks for a password and instals everything.

So what program are you using and is it provided by openSUSE?

Firefox in Edit, Preferences, Applications I do a search for ymp and
it tells me that the action is to use the YaST Meta Packache Handler
(default)

I am using the latest Firefox, YAST lists it as being there. But when
I do a search for ymp it just comes up with a blank window where all
of the other Applications Preferences reside. ?????
