Now I seem to have enough for a while. I think the amount and speed of

As I said, my system now does almost everything ok most of the time

DDR2 is so much cheaper than DD3 that went for it. Without really knowing
how DDR3 would help me more.
That's also why I filled the banks with 2 GB sticks, too. They fours are
expensive. I couldn't wait.

I would either go for 4GB or 8GB, but with 2GB sticks too. That way I
can add more.

I wanted so badly to get the new computa running.

Me as well and I know I will buy one. I just am trying to hold out as
long as possible.

I know :) I was thinking of 750 w or something.

I chose mine because everybody said it's silent and stable.
It also has a 5 year warranty and they say they use better industrial
(or something) class capacitors. I know them bitches are important to
have long lifetime.

I once got a great tip. The thing is to buy an as cheap one as possible,
open it and replace the fan. It is the fan that makes the noise. So
cheap power, silent fan. However that is when 250W was enough.

Another one much recommended was Seasonic.

Recomendations are too often based on one off expriences. :-/

The proc I have is Intel Quad 6600.
I thought it was most for the money.
It runs 2.4 GHz stock but also runs 3.8 GHz from BIOS.
Easily 3 GHz on air. More than I need.

Nice to know. It is a bitch to copare AMD and Intell/

Thanks. I will probably see that I can rip that, remove out all the dual
things and then also add prices to it and then make some usefull
comparisons, instead of either an alphabetical list or a list on mere
speed where most of them are irrelevant.

Still, I never thought that I would need the ultimate horsepower.
I think it's important to run cool > less cooling > less noise.

underclock. That way you don't need a cooler.

Mine idles over 90 % of the time.

And I can't hear the stock cooler's noise :)

That is why I am thinking about water cooling.
