Thanks. I will probably see that I can rip that, remove out all the dual
things and then also add prices to it and then make some usefull
comparisons, instead of either an alphabetical list or a list on mere
speed where most of them are irrelevant.

OK, here is what I did. I removed everything that was slower then the
AMD 9950 I was focussing on. I also removed all measurements with 2
processors or more. Also the Xeon was removed. I then looked at the
prices of Alternate.nl

Processor Mark Price
Intel Core2 Extreme X9770 @ 3.20GHz 5044 1199
Intel Core2 Quad Q9550 @ 2.83GHz 4084 269
Intel Core2 Extreme X9650 @ 3.00GHz 4008 479
Intel Core2 Quad Q9450 @ 2.66GHz 3654 269
Intel Core2 Extreme Q6800 @ 2.93GHz 3551
Intel Core2 Quad Q9300 @ 2.50GHz 3390 225
Intel Core2 Extreme Q6850 @ 3.00GHz 3380
Intel Core2 Quad Q6700 @ 2.66GHz 3024
Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz 2691 159
AMD Phenom 9950 Quad-Core 2661 189

On first glance, the Q9550 is the best buy. If I would be happy with the
speed of the AMD, the Q6600 is better, because it is cheaper.

The question then is, is the Q9550 worth the extra 90EUR?
So let us look
at this again. Price per mark. I removed those where I did not have a
price:

Processor Mark Price Price/Mark
Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz 2691 159 5.91%
Intel Core2 Quad Q9550 @ 2.83GHz 4084 269 6.59%
Intel Core2 Quad Q9300 @ 2.50GHz 3390 225 6.64%
AMD Phenom 9950 Quad-Core 2661 189 7.10%
Intel Core2 Quad Q9450 @ 2.66GHz 3654 269 7.36%
Intel Core2 Extreme X9650 @ 3.00GHz 4008 479 11.95%
Intel Core2 Extreme X9770 @ 3.20GHz 5044 1199 23.77%

So there. This has absolutely not helped me, but instead gave me more
options to select from. Darn!

Look also at power consumption, that's another good point, less wattage is
less noise and cheaper to run :)

Another factor will step in when you actually step into the shop with
some money:

Make a list of you components and show that in shops with some money.
They will bargain when they see the money.

As for your proc dilemma:
I would go higher in the proc if I had the money. But otoh they'll come
down in time.

Thas was helpful, wasn't it :)
