OK, still no idea what is going on and where the problem is.

I have chnaged the following things:
Differnt CD and DVD disks. Different HDs. Different memory modules.
Different videocards. Differnt almost everything and I am still stuck at
semi-random places just after the kernel is loaded and before the
installation or licd CD should start.

I even tried different distributions. Sigh. Any pointers are obviously
welcome.
