Re: Screen background refresh timing

Recently went from 10.1 to 11.0

One of the apps I use has a significant amount of screen updating that
runs in background (a audio waterfall like display). It is actually an X
windows app that knows nothing about KDE etc.

The 10.1 install had a good screen refresh and there was no smearing or
blocking when a window passed over it. The 11.0 install suffers badly
from in.

backingstore and saveunders is on.

At first I thought it may be an X problem but wonder if it isnt KDE. KDE
apps dont appear to be affected. As a guide vncviewer is also problematic.

Before I wade into KDE in depth does any one have any pointers?

Tnxs Bob
are you using the same driver for your graphics card?
you may want to check as well the open gl parameter, 3D acceleration, special
effects (compiz, etc...).

just a thought.
