So I would like to hear some success stories with openSUSE 11.1. Any
easy clean, works great from the get go installations? If so what
version did you have success with?
I installed openSUSE 11.1 net-install version on my Acer Aspire One 150. Almost everything worked great. It even recognized the wireless network adapter and started downloading the packages. After the first boot I realized that I did not give it any settings for my secure wlan connection and realized it was piggy backing off my neighbors lan. Sorry neighbor. I used Yast to setup the network adapter and all was well. I am using KDE 3.5 or enlightenment for the desktop depending on what I am doing and both are working great. KDE 4.1 was a little hard to get used to and I couldn't seem to set it up they way I would like to.
Some areas that I still need to work on is:
how to setup and use the built in web-cam.
work with the power management to help increase my battery time.
Kdevelop has problems trying to link a simple "hello world" C program with libtool. There is a clunky work around posted on the web but it takes out the convenience of using kdevelop in the first place.
Overall, I am very pleased using openSUSE 11.1 and think the developers and packagers did a great job.
