Still trying 11.1...

I was moments away from burning 11.0 DVD as I've had several problems with
11.1. Had the image checksum'd and a blank DVD in the recorder. Ready to
press 'burn' but hesitated... Opened konqueror and opened my buddies web
page. Clicked the embedded iacmusic player and voila'...streaming music
played. So that's one more hurdle overcome. Now I've only got a couple of
more 'issues' to work out and everything will be 'wonderful'...
So the most pressing issue is to get Tomcat6 working. I need this for
running at least one java application (more later) that I will be using
(either Compiere or Adempiere ERP/CRM...). But first Tomcat6 needs to run.
When I run '/etc/init.d/tomcat6 start' as root (su) I get the following:
# /etc/init.d/tomcat6 start
Starting Tomcat (/usr/share/tomcat6)lock file found but no process running
for pid 13309, continuing done
I don't know why there is a lockfile on this. How do I remove the lockfile
and why is it there in the first place ?
This is an out-of-the-box install of Tomcat6 from the default repo so I've
done nothing unusual. If someone could walk me thru this I'd appreciate
it. For now I'll just keep 11.1 installed and try to work out any issues
that remain.
P.S. Installed from DVD and am presently using KDE-3.5.x.
Thanks
.
