another old computer I got from a customer. The computer was cannibalized
for parts. That customer was not shy about letting people copy her disks
so I thought I might have trouble with the registration with MS.
Depends on what she had and did - I've seen some old distro disks that
install and activate w/o any problem while others are done after the first
activation - never did figure out the magic change limit. Most of the
shops I consult with have a copy of the no-activation-required corporate
version and I never get nosy about which corporation (or school) licensed
it <g>. It's worth a try and there are all sorts of sites that have
work-arounds that may or may not work. Who knows, you might just have hit
the lottery?
