One solution is to drop VMware and move to an open hypervisor

Even VirtualBox, from the OSE Build Service repo, will need new
drivers each and every kernel update. OK, for NVidia and VB you
do not have to BUILD them yourself but you do have to rerun "zypper
update" after the reboot to the new kernel in a lot of cases.
I.E. this is the newest Build Service OSE package for VirtualBox:
virtualbox-ose-kmp-default-3.1.2_2.6.27.39_0.2-85.1.i586.rpm
This one, in the repo:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Virtualization:/VirtualBox/openSUSE_11.1
is for kernel 2.6.27.39-0.2i (openSUSE 11.1), as you can see in the version
of the package name. The 11.2 version is
virtualbox-ose-kmp-default-3.1.2_2.6.31.8_0.1-85.1.i586.rpm
PS: the Build Service does have prebuilt VMware driver packages too!
