I shudda bin clearer :-(

KNM isn't throwing security alerts but a security (encryption) setup dialog to find out what level I want. That's what I cannot get past because it pops 3 times in a row and then nothing happens. It's workin fine on 2 portables with the same wifi router but this desktop is a 64 bit running 11.3-32bit , other than that I'm clueless as per.

I'm looking into nm-applet, sounds ok.
