Well according to dictionary.COM, one meaning is
QUOTE
a tendency to view life in terms of one's own needs and desires.
UNQUOTE
Well, then that is a very unscientific and outdated meaning.
I am definitely autistic - and I have an official diagnosis [*] on
paper, in a very detailed report dating back two years now - but I tend
to view life in terms of balance and harmony, and I often overlook my
own best interests in that regard. So that definition doesn't fly, and
that is plainly and simply because autism is a neurological condition,
not a psychiatric condition.
The problem with autism is that most so-called professional physicians
simply base their criteria for a diagnosis upon outwardly observable
traits, without understanding them. In order to understand them, one
would have to _be_ autistic.
[*] As per my own request, because I wanted it in writing, for several
reasons I'm not going to get into here and now.
So maybe the monitor is just plain selfish and just does not love
the Happy Oyster like a good monitor should?
Ah, but now _that_ is a whole other issue. ;-) Happy Oyster also seems
to have issues of acceptance among the members of alt.os.linux.suse. ;-)
You don't need to say that again.
