try ping your host from any other box on the network if ping gives a +ve
reply
then may be you have had firewall which is blocking your connections.
so better turn it off using ntsysv on redhat. and then open any service
like telnet or ssh and use other box to connect to these services.

and if some how your box doesnot give a +ve reply to a ping request
then you gotta have to bring your box onto the network well for that
better read some how-tos. go to tldp.org and read net-howto
