Why not just use tree and send it to a text file?

cd /mnt/cdrom
tree > ~/$home/cd1.txt

Now you will have a nice list of what is on the CD on the text file, cd1.txt,
in your home directory. Do with this file what you will. It will have all of
the files and directories listed and it will be small and easy to view.
