Is there a list of needed applications?

Hi folks,

I'm a programmer, and I'm looking to create some applications for Linux.
I'm not really too interested in joining an existing OpenSource project
right now, but instead want to make some from scratch.

What'd I'd like to know is if there's some sort of list out there of
applications that need to be built for Linux. I don't want to kill 80
hours of my time by building an application that will only be used by 2
people, but would rather build an application that many people are
requesting, but so far no one has built (or at least no one has built a
good one).

Is there a website that has this kind of information? Kind of like a most
requested/needed application site.

Thanks!
