2.6.0-test4: touchpad or mouse - not both?

Since running 2.6.0-test4, I can't get both
the touchpad on my laptop and an external mouse
both working.

Worked with 2.4.20 (probably because it didn't
have the touchpad in the kernel).

I can have an external mouse, by editing
XF86Conf, or I can have the touchpad
(http://w1.894.telia.com/~u89404340/touchpad/)
but I have to edit XF86Conf each time to switch
back and forth.

Is there any way that both can work when I have
the external mouse plugged in?

Basically, I want the touchpad to always work,
but also have the external mouse work if/when
it's present.

Thanks!

emike
