Hey Dude(tte)s!
Ok, my ISP has "taken back" its' outsourced news service and is going
through convolutions trying to get it all working in-house. This
means all us "news hounds" are having to unsub/resub over and over
for the past week to be able to see articles ... sometimes. Posting
does work but posts on our own ISPs' server (newsgroups.bellsouth.net
FYI) may not show up locally before they do on Google or
readfreeneew.net. :-/
So, I can *read* the new USENET posts on allnews.readfreenews.net but
of course when I reply with Knode (bless its' little bytes) it tries
to /post/ through readfreenews.net instead of my account with my ISP.
AFAIK there is no posting allowed on readfreenews.net unless one just
happens to be Uncle Dad aka Mike Horwath (or his mother, girlfriend
or close personal pal ;-). Yeah, I can post with Google ... but
USENET with a browser?! <shudder>
What I'm seeking (without much success so far) is a news reader that
will /read/ from multiple news servers but will post through the
account I have with my ISP. I don't care if it is GUI or CLI as long
as I can do that. I /do/ care if it is some add-on to emacs. I *do*
*not* want to use emacs as it is very "fat" and I have limited drive
space on this machine (yeah I know 'rilly big' drives are cheap, I
have a new one just no time to reinstall lately). It /does/ have to
be able to at least ./configure, make, make install on a GNU-Linux
box. I have searched Google and Google Groups but found nothing.
Is what I am seeking possible? If so, where can I find such a beast?
If not ... why not?
TIA!
