If you're satisfied with Windows, then keep using it. Of course, it
is said that "ignorance is bliss," so I suggest you do some reading
about Linux before making any decisions that you may later regret.

Start at The Linux Documentation Project (www.tldp.org) with all its
HOWTOs and administrator guides. It will give you a good overview of
what Linux is and how it works. They also have links to other useful
Linux sites.

As to your questions: yes, Linux is as 'plug-n-play' as Windows --
some say better than; yes, Linux servers will interface seamlessly
with Windows through the Samba; Apache is Linux's http server, and
I've read is used on 90% of all web servers -- must work well enough.
An ftp server is an ftp server, unless it's a Windows ftp server -- a
word to the wise.

Sorry, Linux doesn't have a Windows attitude. It just works and works
and works without errors or freeze-ups or crashes or complaints. I
know of people/companies who have had their Linux systems/servers
running continously for over 2 years without failure.

And lastly, as a business owner, you should consider one very
important difference between Linux and Windows. For the most part,
Linux is free: no license fees; no additional fees when your
customers want to add another workstation or two or three to their
network; no inspections by the draconian MS SS or raids by the USDOJ
looking for unlicensed software, etc.

Later ....
