One of the major drawbacks to Linux is the lack of database frontends.
Knoda is a good stab at correcting that deficiency.
HOWSOMEEVER!!!!!!!!!!
Those geekie, nurdy, narrow thinking, idoit savants that are doing a lot of
the apps development in Linux need a reality check.
Having said that, down to the incident that sparked the outburst. There is
a new version of Knoda out that is totally, absolultely worthless, to any
but Mandrake users. It calls for a lib that is not packaged with the
"semi-static" rpm and is unavailable, except in the Mandrake cooker. What
kind of idoit would make the entire update dependent on a non available lib
file? (libhk_CLASSES.so.4)
Until Linux folks wake up and realize that the days of this being a geeks
paradise are over, Linux is going to remain closed off from the larger
desktop market. That is a dirty rotten shame becuase it is such a
wonderful operating system.
So, all those who have been offended by this rant, please hear what is being
said. It is fine to play with an update that will run on your system or
Linux version, but it is only worthwhile when it runs on all Linux
versions.
