I didn't remember re-configuring Internet Explorer made me do a system
re-boot BUT I haven't done it in awhile. But, I'm sure this is the
reason one of your other applications can access the internet and not
IE ... it needs to be configured for a local network ... or something
like "direct connetction to internet". I'm sure there has to be a
selection to cover it but I don't have a way to try it ... sorry!

If you are browsing then the configuration should be OK now ... its
just to the driver installed now ... I think.

In order to find the correct location to put the rc.local file you
have to be able to list the files in /etc/rc5.d/ or at least find out
where this is done on your distribution. I use Debian and thats where
it is, and it was under /etc/rc.d/ in Slackware.

Apparently thats a security issue ... according to my search you now
boot the WinXP install floppy and select the "R" option to do this
now. I haven't tried it though.

It looks like it is configured for DOS so just issueing the "grub"
command I think should install it. Make sure you have an emergency
boot floppy for Linux first and make sure the WinXP CD boot option
works as well BEFORE you try to fix grub. Maybe someone who uses grub
will comment ...
