Telling us you got an error message isn't especially useful. What was
it?
If you can get to a prompt with the boot disk try editing /etc/lilo.conf
Add a line
lba32
Then run
/sbin/lilo

The article is dated, do a search of tldp.org for a dual boot howto.
As another reply in the thread mentions Grub is also an option, but I've
always preferred Lilo as I'm more familiar with it.
