What is Macromedia Flash Player

This rank amateur against the advice of those who know what they are
doing installed Lindows 4.5. While checking out the system, I now have
on the screen "Macromedia Flash Player 6" and I can't get anything to
"move". What is this all about? Thanks, Ted in Mich.
