Best Linux Version For XP

New to the group here an am getting more curious about Linux. I experimented
a few years back with it but was just to difficult to manage. I have XP Home
on my computer now but want to try it again. What versions should I try with
XP for dual boot and would getting a program like Partition Magic be needed.
