Well, the "hosts", "services" and "protocols" files reside in:
%systemdir%\System32\drivers\etc\
Thus - not much of a shock to me: it's a bloody mess!

Uuh, that has been a design flaw (they call "bug" or "feature") in IE:

Think they "fixed" (prolly lame workaround) that one though.
