giving up on mandrake

over the last 2 weeks, i have done a scratch install & re-install of
mandrake 4 times. and eveyting i perform the automatic secuyrity updates,
it:
a) screws up KDE
b) screws up the root acc. profile
c) screws up the user acc. profile
one, or two or all three of the above.
i have not had this problem with fedora, suse, redhat. what the hell is the
matter with this distro! i am justing giving up on mandrake.
