I have been running Mandrake 9.2 since before the public ISOs were
available.
Dur 99% to experimentation I have installed it about 10 times. I have
Network Installed, and, I have CD installed.
I have had good installs, and I have had bad installs.
The only bad installs I have had is when _I_ didn't do something that I
should have.
I would almost guarantee that the problems you have had has been due to
the same thing.
I run a stage 1 Gentoo install that is very stable, as well as running a
Mandrake install...also very stable.
People would be amazed at how little difference there is between the
two...they are almost identical in speed. Both MozillaFirebird, and k3b,
load within 1 second apart in both Gentoo and Mandrake.
Without doing benchmarking it is rather obvious from general usage that
they are not the complete opposites that some people make out.
It sounds like there's something that you are missing...if you could
figure that out I am sure you would get much better results.
-- -Joseph- Thank God for the ability to PLONK people. Watch out for people who have forgotten what it's like to be a nOOb. Give them a good PLONK for 30 days or so. And, be greatful when people say they are going to PLONK you; that is often a Godsend.
