If you are on a linux machine, and connected via samba to a WinXP
machine formatted NTFS...guess which machine actually writes to the hard
disk on that WinXP machine.
That's right...the WinXP machine is doing the writing.
You don't really think it is going to write in a foreign language, do you?
It writes it NTFS...it _reads_ the smbfs format, and writes in it's
own format.
It is only on the _same_ machine that you will have a problem.
