Why bother with an old distro? The current stable version of debian can
install from 2 floppies, but it's a *very* basic system. However if you
have a supported network card, then you can just download everything
else. If you need to install entirely off floppies, then an older
slackware is probably better. Also I'd go for console mode if you can,
or if not then use XFree86 3.x, with something like fvwm or icewm as the
window manager, so it'll run at a reasonable speed.
