Methinks you misunderstand what is meant by 'free.' In this context
in does not mean no charge. It means unfettered, unrestricted. Like
being a free person. This in direct contrast to proprietary operating
systems like unix and gatesware. That you can obtain a copy without
charge is a side benefit.
