configuring stir4200 ir usb dongle to be used with a remote controller?

Hi

I am desperately trying to get this usb dongle to react on one or more
of my remote controls. Any good ideas? It seems that I am missing some
configuration since ifconfig says that the number of errors in the
RX-packet is very high. When I use irdadump it cannot recognize when I
press any keys on the remote - but something seems to happen since it
stops listing the dongle's own output.

Where do I configure the dongle to receive from a remote? - it seems
like some timing is incorrectly configured.

All help is welcome and I have been all over (groups)google...

Thanks in advance
Peter Michael
