I had a drive in my server that went bad. I was logged into my server,
everything was fine and then all of a sudden it froze and couldn't be
restarted.
Now, I have put the bad drive in my good computer as secondary master.
It gets recognized but when I do an fdisk -l /dev/hdc I get nothing.
When I try to mount -t ext3 /dev/hdc /mnt/mydrive
I get this error: 'mount: /dev/hdc is not a valid block device'
When I try booting from the bad drive, it starts to boot and then performs
a disk check. The check fails at about 90% on the root partition. There
are several partitions but the one I'm most interested in is /home.
I can list the partitions of the bad drive when I boot from it, but I
can't fsck it. It gives me a "bad superblock" error.
Is there anything else I can do to try and recover parts of my disk?
