Nope, it isn't. Performance will drop down as soon as you get >90%
FS usage. The best idea for the OP, as Bill already pointed out
is to clean up or put another hd in the system. /tmp is a good
place to look, /var/log might contain log files ending in .gz
which can be usually removed saveloy. Another idea would be to use
his package manager and delete unneeded packages and check his
$HOME for obsolete stuff. Put it on CD/DVD-RW if unsure if you
won't miss it once.
