I have a Diamond Stealth Video VRAM card and a CTX VL950
monitor.. They are both supported by RH7.3 and Mandrake 9 yet
they won't work with either distro. I agree with everything
you've said (OP's trolling notwithstanding), but ISTM that where
M$ have finally got up to speed on hardware issues, Linux is now
lagging way behind.

Sure, any Linux Distro will work on just about any hardware in
command-line mode, but so will just about any version of DOS.

And what really anoys me is that the GUI display test during
installation works fine every time, then it just dies the first
time the OS is actually run.
