America is still a democracy, but it has powerful anti-democratic
forces at work. The reactionary right cares only about power.
History, democratic traditions, rule of law, freedom of speech, etc.
mean nothing to them. Meanwhile, the Bushies and the terrorists
reinforce one another. Expect democracy in America to really die
when there is another terrorist attack, next time much worse than the
last. Sorry to be so OT.
