Slow Samba reading under Windows

    I am trying to improve Samba performance under Windows. The server is
    running Suse 9.0 and the latest ver of Samba Not sure what ver exactly).
    The Lin/Samba read/write times are 2.8/4.6 MB/sec. The Win read/write
    times are 0.56/6.84 MB/sec read/write for the same file.

    I have already made some changes to optimize the read/write speeds but
    these had no effect on the Win read speed (the Lin speed seemed to inc.
    50%). Does anyone have any insight?
