The Canon A300 might interest you. But note that there are two ways to
transfer images from your camera to your computer if your camera uses a
memory card. One way is to connect the camera with a USB cord and use it
with gphotot or as a storage device. The other, my preference, is to use
a memory card (come cheap). Just get one of those USB memory card
readers which are compatible with the memory card of your camera (memory
stick, CF-I, etc.). Then just take out the memory card from your camera,
put it in the memory card reader and mount that device using /etc/fstab
and there you go and you can read the images just as if it were some disk.
