/dev/hdXY are IDE devices. X is set based on the position of the
device:
a Primary Master
b Primary Slave
c Secondary Master
d Secondary Slave
And it continues for extra expansion-cards, like some Promise
controllers. Y is the number of the partition, gotten from fdisk.

I think hdparm can do that.
